Hi

Just overfilled the oil on my shed, about 7mm too far up the stick.

I won't get chance to do anything about it for a while, do you think it'll be OK to use?

Cheers

Without wanting to suggest you don't know what you are doing, have you let the oil cool and settle and is the car perfectly flat? Also, what motor was it? I have a Passat 1.9 Tdi and the car takes exactly 4 litres when I extract the oil with a vacuum pump.

EDIT: I'd lay underneath, loosen the sump plug off, drain a small amount and tighten up. Done it before myself it's just a little messy.

7mm? Quarter of an inch or thereabouts? Should be OK, certainly won't do any damage.

Personally I'd not worry and drive it as usual.

Half an inch is 13 mm (12.7 if you want to be pedantic) - bit of a difference? Which is it?
