Just had a renewal for my 944S2 (89) through Carloe Nash
Last year £531.21 - XS £250 - With AXA
This year £1118.31 - XS £520 - With Norwich Union
Apparently AXA are not doing classic policies for Porsches less than 30 years old..........
Anybody got any other insurance companies they can recommend......

Liverpool Victoria were 40% cheaper than NU for my 993tt last year, try them.

Classic Line and Asset Trust. I've used them both on my 993 tt.

www.elephant.co.uk are competitive, but the service is a bit Freddy Star.

When I complained that they hadn't responded to two emails they said "Well as an internet company, we do get an awful lot of emails!!". I pissed myself laughing, but she didn't see the irony.

I have a modern classic policy with AON through Barry Grainger. Around £600 for 5000 miles policy on a 1990 911.

You're being ripped-off on that S2.
I pay £225 a year for my 944 turbo (1986), on a 5000 mile policy, as a third car, which is garaged. Also includes the wife as a named driver, excess is £250 IIRC.

If there's enough interest in this post then I can dig out the details of the insurer & post here for all & sundry

I have a 5000 mile classic policy from R+SA through Perfomance Marque (which includes PCGB trackday cover) for about £570 on a 1989 964 - does need to be a second car and garaged.

Car is second car (I have a Volvo (tow car) & a Westfield (sprint car)) unfortunately cannot be garaged, as there's a Westfield in there.
I'd be very grateful if you could post some phone numbers for the insurance companies you speak of so that I can get some more quotes.

Thanks

P.S. I'm 39 years old and live in an M33 postcode, which is a medium risk area I believe.

The insurer for my 944 turbo is Peter S Taylor & Co in Hove, East Sussex. Tel: 01273 820303 / 329307.

£225 fully comp, 5000m p/a, third car, garaged, wife as 2nd driver, also includes European cover.

I am 32 years old & live in LE3, also a medium risk area.

Also, that bit about classics needing be be over 30 years old is bollocks, most companies set it at either 12 or 15 years. Not sure you'd get classic insurance on a 1990 Ford Escort 1.4 GL though...

Have just had a quote for a 88 944 turbo as a main car with no mods from Lancaster £500. I'm 34, have no no claims bonus (but no claims - have been making do with my wifes company car). It's a classic policy limiting me to 10,000 mile pa.

Actually, I'm surprised it's that high, yours should have been a bit closer to the £250 mark. I can only assume the extra is due to it not being garaged. Glad you've saved a few sheckles though!

I have exactly the same policy for a 1990 964C2Targa
though it costs £360(age 44, Oxon, Garaged, 3rd car). From the 964 Titanic site nearly everyone with Good NCD and lowish points finds Liverpool and Victoria the cheapest my quote was £440 with MAx NCD which I use on 2nd Car.
