Afternoon all,

I am aware there are a few other posts in relation to individual models, but I am looking more for a "which one is best".
So, I believe there are L200, Navara, Hilux, Ranger, Amorak, Some weird Mazda thing, etc. We are looking mainly at L200, as it will be used more by my wife than me and thats the one she prefers.

A friend of mine that had a hilux said its very bouncy, as the bed will be empty most of the time I take it they are all like this?

We will be using it to also launch our boat in the summer, so its ability to grip on the slipway is important. So far we have found a nice Barbarian at a local dealers, its 2011 shape, but we had also looked at some cheaper Diamond model previous shape ones (2008).

I guess my question is, is the L200 an ok pick of the bunch, or should we be looking and concentrating more on the other makes? Sadly the VW is out of our price range.

Hi, I sell them all and my personal favourite is Navara and least favourite the L200 simply because I get more grief/warranty come-back on L200's.
Ranger's good but not as comfy or well-specced as a rule although better turning circle than the other two.

I've sold used commercials now for a while, and also sold all bar the VW new aswell, my opinions on them below;

L200 - Basic dash, even in new shape. Bouncy, and firm on suspension. Tramline well. Tough offroad though

Navara - By far the one I would grab the keys to if I was about to sit on the motorway for any longer than an hour. Automatic only would be my choice too, wonderful towing machine aswell. Best seats for comfort, and a great spec.

Hilux - Firm again, the rear end loves to step out with TC off. Dash is very Jap, which is a shame. Tough old things, but not the highest word in comfort.

Ranger - Your largest towing capacity in them all. Pre 2011, you have 3t, now you have 3.5t. 3.2 5pot is a cracking engine, linked to the auto gearbox. 2.2 is a bit weezy. Still firm, but not as bad as hilux or l200. Newest design at the moment too, although the Nissan is due a revamp this year I believe.

Amorak - Holds well on residuals, looks good, however, the 2.0 bi turbo puts me off. As do other issues with this engine unit. But nicely spec'd, however you will spend more on this than the others.

If it was my hard earned, I'd go for a 2011 Onwards Navara 2.5 dci 191ps, Automatic, Tekna Connect. Amazing spec, comfort, 2.7t towing capacity, and seem to be holding money reasonably too.

I had 2 L200's, they were okay. Never went wrong. Jittery ride, bit gutless. Didn't matter what top you put on the back it always leaked.

I had them as company cars as you got a lot of vehicle for your money (van tax).

If I was doing what you want olne for I would go for a Disco tbh. More comfortable and more capable. More money though.
