Popped in to see Mazda about the new car, looks great will be excellent etc should come in at around about the same price as the old one + a few hundred quid. Deliveries start August.

Now, where it gets interesting is they're doing deals on the current model, and when I say deals-I mean deals! Interest free credit, manufacturer contributions, manufacturer contributions etc etc.

Basically, you can get a brand new march delivery top of the range bells & whistles model for........

£17.5k if you pay cash

eek

So which would you buy?

I quite like outgoing models if the price is right. No problems with "new model" foibles and usually lower tech (which suits me)

Only you can decide however. look @ both cars and say to yourself is the new model worth an extra £xxx ?

Both.

Buy the old one, keep the mileage reasonable, sell after a few months for £15,900 then buy the new one.

I have to admit, this did occur to me too.

I did ask if there was a guarenteed future value on them & was told the part exchange value of a 2012 car. So it wasn't an exact science but one of those is part ex'ing at around £11.5-12k.

Pretty cheap motoring for 3 years of a brand new sports car.

Surely you should just buy a mk1 for £500

Wow. You could drive it to BBR and have a brand new, quick MX5 for what, £23k?!!

So which would you buy?

I'd buy the new one - lighter, smaller wheels, apparently closer to the original MX5. The MK2 and MK3 never really appealed to me.

New one... Looking like it's going to a cracking car - certainly seems to be getting some good early drive reviews

Either wait for the new one, or save loads of money and buy a used late mk3.5 for 10—15k. They are an "easy" used buy, reliable, often well looked after, low risk purchase. Tonnes of really nice ones about, something like a 2 or 3 yr old sport black.

I'd definitely wait for the new one. I'm not a massive fan of the current mx5 but the new one looks fantastic!

By a mk1 have fun with it for a year or so, then when the mk4 is a out and a year old save a bundle on a ex demo one.
