Came across this clip of something reported to be a V16 BRM driven at speed, on the public road, in snowy weather.

I know it sounds like a V16 BRM, but would be that brave/stupid/crazy to actually do this? Regardless of the car, the speed it reaches is frightening

Denis Jenkinson did go for a drive one Christmas Day in a pukka Lotus 12 GP car on public roads. He reckoned that the plod would be otherwise engaged.

(I've just checked - it was 1957. He put a trade plate over the tail to soften the blow in case the rozzers arrived.)

Yep, I'm going with fake too.

Listen to the sound at 20 seconds and notice how the car doesn't really get any faster.

Anyway - there appears to be no wind noise in the clip - I would have imagined that there would have been a little bit at least?

Fake. Sir Stirling Moss said the v16 will spin the wheels under acceleration at up to 140 mph, a consequence of torque due to two stage centrifugal supercharging. No sign of this in the snow/damp conditions of the vid.

Forget the video, just turn up the audio smilesmilesmile

Also fake,because it's unlikely to run that long without a missfire !

The Jenks story is here for anyone who's never read it;

His book really is worth a read if you can find it.
