Had a mate with a 68 C3 pop round the other day and we spent a few hours doing a few jobs round the car.

I noticed the bushes were badly worn so he's ordered a new complete set of poly bushes, has anyone fitted these to a C3 before, are there any dificult parts,do we need any special tools.
Fore warned is fore armed!

Probably about the same as fitting rubber bushes (the A arm ones I've got look a lot easier to fit than rubber) but make sure you lube them well, otherwise your mate will be driven insane by all the squeeking!

Not saeen them for a C3, but I know in the ones I've seen before (Ford Capri...) the bush actually came in two pieces whereas the rubber 'bobbin' was in one piece and a git to fit. Poly ones come as a top hat shape, with a second piece being like a plain washer to fir to the other side.

Hope this is helpful.

I haven't done this but I asked someone that has.

Take care with the front springs - a suitable compressor may be a big help here and the old bushes can be a sod to get out without a press. I'm told sawing off ther end of the old bush and drilling the rubber repeatedly with a 4 mil drill helps a lot.

Are the poly bushes plain or with a metal sleeve? The plain ones are a lot easier to get in.

Chris.

Gotcha guys ,yes i found out pressing out old bushes a waste of time ,easiest way like you say is to cut of the surface of the rubber so you see the rubber between cntre collar and part and drill the b9999rs out ,by the way ivejust done my C4 and the only real problem was the upper A-arms,ive since made up a fitting tool for the complete bushing that goes in the upper A-arm so if it needs borrowing call on me.

Now if he doesnt give me a hundred million sqid ime not gonna grease his bushes ,it will be like chinese water torture heehee
Thanx for the adve chaps.
