E46 330d fuel pressure problem
Discussion
Folks
Clutching at straws really but hope someone can help me.
E46 330d, 205k miles, remapped and going well. However, after changing the fuel filter (under bonnet, not the inline one of later cars) the fuel pump under the passenger seat area doesnt stop running when the ignition is on. Its supposed to run for approx 60 secs to pressurise the system and then switch off - mine goes off for a short time, and then promptly comes back on within seconds - presumably in response to a pressure drop somewhere.
I've changed the inline lifter pump, in-tank pump, pressure sensor on top of the filter, checked fuel lines as best I can for kinks and blockages but no luck. My BMW specific code reader keeps throwing the obvious 1260 Pre supply pressure monitoring code, but i've changed practically everthing bar the rail pressure sensor (I have one on order). Nor can I find any fuel leaks or loose clamps that might be letting air in.
Any ideas? 90% of similar problems on the web are fixed by a new lifter pump, but I now have 2 perfectly operational ones and fitting/swapping them makes no difference. Low revs throttle response is pretty poor and I suspect there's unburnt fuel being passed through as the car smells really sooty/rich.
Any ideas?

Check the connection and wiring to the pressure sensor that sits on top of the fuel filter. If the sensor is definitely okay, there isn’t going to be anything left that would cause that fault code.
Best way of u can is monitor the pressure reading while you move the wire close to the sensor
