I've been looking for a snotter to use for 6-12 months and my eye keeps getting drawn to big ol' MPVs. Especially the van-like Japanese/American ones. What's wrong with me? No kids, none planned yet the idea of driving round in something with a load of creature comforts that I can take the back seats out and use as a van/dayvan/mega-budget camper from time to time really appeals!
Only looking to spend about 500 quid so no worries about dings, depreciation, etc. I'm not far from Snetterton, so may have a bash at a trackday in it.

For that price I reckon most things will be, might as well be something I can chuck a bike in or use for tip runs. Then weigh it in when the MOT rolls round.

6 and 7 seaters are always in demand, more so than a big saloon for example

so while you'll get a half-reasonable saloon, you'll get a knackered MPV at that money

I have been looking at spending a bit more and getting a nice saloon... I'll have a look at what's about.
I thought MPVs at that end of the scale would be fairly not in demand seeing as little Timmy couldn't POSSIBLY travel in a 15 year old, 100k mile SECONDHAND vehicle, his head will explode!
Have to admit, I'm a bit put off by the idea of ingrained vom.

I've had this hankering for a while, too. Quite fancy a Previa. But only if the 2nd row is facing backwards.

That and a Mazda Bongo Friendee.

Oh yeah, I'm single, no kids, no dog. I do carry around a fair bit of sports kit so an MPV... or a similar Vehicle Utilised for Sports would be handy. biggrin

I doubt you'd find one for £500!
I know of a decent 2.5T 210 bhp Ford S-Max Titanium for £3k if you can extend your budget (new clutch and cambelt fitted so ideal for track day use!) owner just bought a new diesel model S-max.

And in years to come when they are all grown up and have left home, it will be passed onto the cousin who enjoys a bit of mini-cabbing of an evening.

A 7-seater with a valid MOT is always in demand.

Feel free... I'm sure it's good value, but not what I'm after at the moment.

I've seen diesel Previa autos for about £1k with 100k on the clock. They might be heaps of st, mind.

You should be able to find a First Gen Toyota Previa/Lucida Emina 2.4 litre petrol (Mid-engined rear-wheel drive) for that kind of money, with MOT.

They're gas guzzlers, but they're reliable. You won't find much kit on them. They're not much in demand, my mother tried selling one for scrap value (she loved the car for 14 years, but couldn't justify the running cost when she was getting newer, safer more economical car).

Try gumtree.

If I was looking for a carry-everything barge I'd be looking at a Merc W124 estate.
