Saw one of these potent beasts in front of me at the traffic lights. It pulled away pretty sharpish, hit almost 30mph, and although following it my Astra estate gave it respect as I might only have had a single port. I just could not recall from the handbook.

Without looking on google what is a twinport and how fast does it make Astra's go?

Is there any other speedy boot badges on mundane cars that beats this?

without googling i think its a type of twin inlet tract type setup.
At low revs = long inlet
Ah high revs = short inlet

I think this refers to the number of ports each cylinder has. The early "Monoport" Astras with just an inlet port were extremely slow as they needed to be pushed by the driver or towed. The Twinport model added an exhaust port which made a huge difference to performance, allowing the engine to be used to move the car.

Again, this is without googling.
