OK then perhaps I'm being very silly and the 'mod bug' has bitten me hard. However my 993 has the standard seats fitted.
What options do I have to replace them with something a little bit more supportive? My first 993 had the optional 'sports' seats (hard backed) which were pretty good but I bet they weigh a ton. The last two have both had normal seats, which are comfortable but not massively supportive, and must be very heavy.
I'm a skinny bastard so thin seats aren't a problem.
I really like the look of the 996 GT3 seats, but I bet they cost a fortune.
I'd like to save meaningful weight if I do change them, but it's a road car, not a track day special, so I don't want to be stuck with 4-point harnesses as they are irritating on the road.
Equally, anyone know whether insurance is a problem with replacement seats?? I'm slightly more wary after the aggro with the supercharger

You're right, standard seats are rubbish. The 'sport' seats are rubbish ones in a frock.
I've stuck gt3 seats in my tt. They're an amazing improvement. Paid £1600 inc for a leather pair from porsche-apart. I think i see a company advertising in 911 pw at about 1500 + vat.
If you're vertically challenged like myself, you can use the 996 runners and they pop straight in. If not you have to buy or modify them.

The SPG's still cost the more than a grand once you've added all the mounting hardware. I spent weeks weighing up the pro's and cons.
If you're after leather then gt3 seats are the way to go. I'm pulling mine out next week to paint (sorry, re connalise) them classic grey as opposed to their black.
Could be a cheap pair of patchwork seats available shortly then!
