Bike for 13 year old boy

Help please , what's a good all round bike for a 13 year old boy ? Thanks .

Not being funny, but that's a huge question, can you give us a few pointers at least? Price range for a start?

If you want something that's truly 'all round' then it can only be a MTB surely? Probably a 26" wheel for a 13 year old, I'd also be looking to spend £300 minimum if you want it to be able to take some decent abuse & still work.

Anything by Specialized, Trek, Cube should be more than adequate.

[shameless plug mode] I've got a sub year old 44cm Dolan Letape with 105 and SLK bits which goes like stink (well it does with Bobley jnr on it). Yours for £600 or less if you don't want carbon cranks etc. Clearly the fastest bike for a 13yr old. [/shameless plug mode]

Kind-a depends on where he wants to ride. BMX, roads, off-road.


For generic riding, I'd suggest flat bars, 1x gearset, no suspension 26" wheels with narrow-ish street tyres.
