Recently I've seen a stack of pictures of wing mirrors on cars showing (not suprisingly) the car or whatever is behind such as this one

How do you actually take a picture like that? I guess the blurring of everything except the mirror image comes from the fact that you are moving, however how do you get the image behind that you want without getting any reflection from you or the camera?

Also, as we are on the subject, does anyone have any good wing mirror shots?

[smart arse mode] very few cars have wing mirrors these days, they are mostly door mirrors [/smart arse mode]

It's dead easy - consider the fact that when you are driving and look in the mirror you don't see yourself - only the view behind. As a passenger you just basically get your camera onto the driver's line of sight then snap away!

Best results with the window open!

Also, your camera will probably try to focus on either the mirror glass (so have it clean) or the edge of the mirror itself - like this bad effort of mine taken a while ago...

I'd do better now honest guv.
