STOP PRESS:
I was the original inventor of in-car smoke systems in 1986 after having my prized Clarion seperates hifi wrenched out of the dashboard.
From 1980 I used to run a large mobile disco and PA hire (read 40ft of stage and two transit lutons to carry it all). We used to use lots of Pyrotechnics on our shows, and after the stereo was robbed, I fitted and converted flash-bang cartridges as car alarms
This was in 1985. From 86' onwards I used smoke in green, blue, red, yellow and white. After they fired you had to valet the car, but £30 was nothing if your car was left and nothing stolen.
I visited the Birmingham NEC Motorshow in 1987 and met up with a Mr xxxxx who was very interested in my alarm system and wanted 'in' for a price. He later flew me to Manchester, business class, and I foolishly discussed and revealed my systems details to him. I never heard from him again. Three years later I discovered he was President of Dragon Incorporated in the US, and his company was worth over $2m. Bastard
Unfortunately for me, a system malfunctioned at the Chelsea Cruise in 1989 and rendered me blind in one eye for three days and left me stuck in St Thomas's eye hospital
for another three weeks. Fortunately after 3 laser ops in my left eye the damage was repaired.
My original systems used the equivalent of a 'flash-bang' and were actually mounted inside the car
All the systems which were of my design have the slogan "Minder Systems - The First Physical Deterrent Alarm System" on an aluminium case with a red and white sticker on it.
Of the Smoke Systems, I have over 90 still in the field and my customers still come back for more cartridges with no failures. I have also manufactured custom made systems ranging from High Voltage (20kv) to protect door locks etc, and even a transit van which was designed for the police force which physically locks the car thief in the armoured vehicle and calls for assistance when an attempt is made to steal it
If anyone would be interested in a safe smoke guard system which doesn't blow your head off, I can offer them

GMAN, if you want to make a smoke screen then just pump diesel in to the exhaust system! thats what stunt planes and tanks use to make them. all you need is a small tank of the stuff (say 1 gallon) and a small pump and an injector. or you could use one of thoes stuupid "flamimg" kits that T**TS with MAX POWER Escorts use. hay presto, no more speeding tickets. and if the police pull you over just open the back and stand there scratching your chin. they will then spend the next half hour talking to you about the engine and car and forget to book you
its all good.
Chris.
