British so called justice

After hearing of the couple today, who got a paltry 5 years for killing that poor 3 year old boy by force feeding him 40 teaspoons of salt and an unexplained head injury, it made me think of a case about 6 months ago where a head mistress embezzled 500 thousand pounds from the school she worked at and also recieved 5 years.
Is it me, or does this seem incomparable.
It seems to me that mps and other busy bodies go ballistic on parents smacking their children, yet when children are either seriously sexually, physically abused or killed they let the scum either get away with it or give them a sentence like this.
Sorry about the rant but this sums up for me, what is the very worst about this country.

I have to agree.
I watched the news in horror and total disgust when I heard about this case. Maybe we havent got all the facts yet but I was amazed at how small the sentences were considering what they had done.
British justice my arse.

The justice system in this country is as knackered as its government.

Well, IIRC the punishment for 'coveting thy neighbours ass' is "an eye for a (mud)eye".

Not as much as you do for coveting his ass

The sentencing is down to the individual judges within pretty lax guidelines, and is looked at on a case by case basis. It doesn't make for a very consistent approach and is one thing that should be looked at as a point of urgency. The privelaged position enjoyed by many top judges should also be reassessed as many of them appear to be clinically insane and make procedural errors and errors of judgement on a regular basis.

Almost as terrible as the teacher who was convicted of seven counts of indicent assult against children, but today the Judge has allowed him to walk free, with only a 3 year rehabilitation order.
