Email Rejected??

I've tried to sign up to a few forums and websites recently and my email address has been rejected or classed as unsafe!
What on earth is the cause of this, I am a member of a few forums around the www. but why should my address be rejected? I don't spam forums and haven't been banned from anywhere.
Can anyone shed any light on the problem and suggest why I am being rejected?

Yes it's a Yahoo one, bit weird though as I have used my university account to register and still can't get in even after verification!
