With hindsight I think the '73 RS was probably a better investment than the '96 Carrera!

That's one of my adverts ! I bought the white/green 911 2.7 RS from a Coys auction in London, they had three of them in the same auction, and this was the best one, I paid £28k for it, painted white with blue lettering at the time, we changed it to the correct green wheels and lettering (had the wheels re-done by Chris at Diamond Styling), it took ages to sell. I have a really cool picture from back then of 7 x Porsche 964 RS for sale in my showroom, from £24,995, but no one seemed to want them, as people were buying the new 996 Turbo. Having always been interested in rare and collectible Porsche's it's really fascinating to see the high level of interest and prices at the moment.

Very sobering reading, but I guess house prices are probably even worse.

The rise in values is astronomical - but maybe hasn't quite matched the London property market.

Early 2000s with £40k down and a £160k loan would have bought a 2 bed flat in Notting Hill- which would be worth c£600k+ today; - and your tenants pay your loan off. Its the gift that keeps on giving.

A nice 2.7RS today - say £450k for an average one?

(Nowhere near as much fun mind but purely as an investment).
