Will there Toyos fit the standard Chim 400 alloy wheels (front).??

205/50/R15 doesn't sound right for a Chimaera 500 (or 500 alloys anyway).

My 1997 Chimaera 500 takes 225/50/R15

That doesn't make sense; I think that you must have misread the Toyo web site. Chimps started off with 205/60/15s and then dropped to 205/55/15s, at the front. A 205/50 is smaller still and a 195/50 is tiny - standard fitment for an MX5 but if that's the way that you want to go...

The handbook says 15" x 7J with 205/55 and 225/50 with PAS.

Interestingly for the rear it says 16" x 7.5J with 225/50 although it has three engine sizes listed doesn't mention the 245/45 size I have on the 450.

Yup, the front wheels are all the same size, just PAS cars have a wider tyre at 225 vs 205. You notice the extra inch if you put 225's on a non-PAS car!

Except for the very last Chims which has 16" fronts of course, they ran out of 15's.

Is there a problem with fitting these 'Ebay Toyos' to the front two wheels on a '99 Chim 4ltr with PAS.??

Yes or No.??

If not, I'd be very interested in knowing the reason.

Yes, it is likely to be a problem. That 205/50/15 is either another misprint or you have your father's glasses on; TVR never fitted that size. In the words of John Ravenscroft the change in diameter is "too big and the suspension angles won't work properly."

Bad assumption I'm afraid. Normal is 205/55/15 or 225/50/15 both with the same diameter.

Nice theory but doesn't work; where would the 60s, 215s and 235s fit in?. Fronts are interchangable and so are rears but 205/50 does not fit anywhere.

The tyres are good tyres but you're suggesting a non-standard size outside the normal envelope of rolling diameters, which appears to be generous to begin with.

These tyres are spot on for 280i/Tasmin owners who want to swap to 15" wheels from 14" (195/60/14 www.toyo.co.uk/index.php?fuseaction=tyreconverter.table8a&pId=1 ) but are a little small for the 350i/SE which began life with a 205/60/15 (same as the Chimp.)

Thanks Jonathan, I was going on the wedge bible, but my car came with 205 60 15 S02pp's on the front and 215 55 15 bridgestones on the back, so I'd say you are right. Now I'll go start a controversy on the wedge forum and report back in a week when it's resolved
