Tesco Insurance Quote

Have tried the Tesco site for an insurance quote for a 4.5lt proposed purchase. When you select the model name for a 4.5lt there are 2 options -
"Chimaera (97 On), Conv'tible, 4558cc, 2Dr"
"TVR Chimaera 450, 4558cc, 2Dr"
The first option is £277 cheaper ! Any thoughts

I tried them and loads of others and in the end a mate suggested I tried www.screentrade.co.uk and got mine down by £400 and its now with Churchill thru that site

I tried Tesco but there was a fault with selecting the 450 model. Try a 400 and a 500 and they come out the same price - but he 450 was considerably more ??

Anyway - why don't you use Direct line - it is the same insurance company and the quote is usually cheaper.

With my 1st TVR and no NCB as I had been abroad for 5 years, I found Mannings to be many hundreds of pounds cheaper than anyone else. I had to get a letter from my insurers overseas confirming no claims during the 5 years though. Mannings seemed to be better able to negotiate the premium than the others. Adrian Flux was particularly poor and seemingly not very interested until I had a years NCB at which point it seemns that premiums come down considerably. I understand that a very high proportion of TVR insurance claims are made during the first 12 months of ownership.

Even so I'm stuck on 3000 miles a year even though its garaged and in one of the lowest risk post codes in the country.

Love the Chimaera but how can any company sell a car with such crap lights - interior and exterior?

Swings and roundabouts really. Screentrade quoted me more than double my current best quote.

For online quotes I found Privilege.com to be best - They were 1/3 of the price of Screentrade for me.

Just got the renewal quote through from elephant on one of the two cars we insure with them, and just like last time there was a huge difference between the renewal quote and a new business quote done on their web site.

I've just had the same experience Jon. Two cars insured with Elephant, one renewal quote came through and it was 25% more than when doing an online quote. I pointed this out to them and it's sorted now

I've just had a quote from Mannings for £350 for 5K miles - maybe it's a location thing?

Mines due at the end of the month and Mannings have just quoted £605 and I live very near wolosp. Suninghill don't cover TVRCC Track Days anymore and it seems Mannings are one of the few who will. Anyone else had a problem getting TVRCC track day cover?

I got a great quote on a 450 Chim, £570 fully comp, including track, European and NCD protection (although that does come with an increased excess). Also European breakdown cover for £50!

Took my full NCD into account for my second car as well.

I'm 35, Oxford postcode, with wife and full NCD.

Try Peart. When it came to renewal time my quote dropped by £500 and it was at least £400 better than anyone else. After trying the usual suspects I gave up and renewed with them. No increase when I got the brakes upgraded or the exhaust sleved plus they cover TVRCC track days
