Hi all,

can some kind soul look in their service manual or take a tape measure to their G50 and take a few basic measurements for me... I've hunted all the over the forums and the web and can't find much...

I just want to know the following...

1) Overall length of the box (long and short) with and without the bell housing.

2) The relative position of the driveshaft mounts when the box is inverted to the center line of the drive shaft, so how far back and how far up/down it is.

3) how wide/fat the gearbox is between the driveshaft mounting centers.

Even better would be a technical layout or something like that from a Porsche service manual...

I don't mind supplying a dozen beers for the best one!

Cheers,
Pete

Bump.
You need to find someone with a box on the bench for this one.
For those of us with completed cars your task is near on impossible.

Pete,

I have a G50 6spd which I haven't fitted yet so could provide sizes if still needed.

Hi Michael,

I would be most thankful if you could...

I only need general dimensions, primarily since I am considering using an alternative gearbox to the Porsche, but I am a bit concerned that the unit I had in mind may be a bit to long... or would have the wheel mounting centers in the wrong spot... even though it can be supplied with the mounts above or below the centerline.

I still have to come up with a clutch solution, but am leaning towards the multiplate cerametalic ones that AP Racing sell, and not to mention a suitable bell housing... but, the lure of a sequential shifter, particularly one I could probably convert to paddle control is a fairly tempting proposal...

Cheers,
Peter
