I think speed6ism should be as much of a crime as racism or sexism. It makes my blood boil when you have a perfectly good car with a superb engine that has never given any trouble. All the time I see posts saying "Im considering a cerbera should it be a 4.2 or a 4.5", no mention of the pick of the bunch - yes thats right the S6. I know a lot of S6 engines have given trouble but when you have a car that has never given any trouble its hard to take, Fluffy (my Cerb) and I resent being tarred with the same brush. So there, ill sit back now and expect the usual torrent from the majority tractor boys (AJP owners). ps Ive missed being devils advocate...Rich1231 you were responsible! You know who you are!

Nice to see you back Nick. 
1) Don't sell the car.
2) Agreed, nowt wrong with many Speed Six Cerbs, but you do need to be a little
more careful when buying than with the V8... and, yes, the V8 does have it's
faults too.
3) The value of the Speed Six Cerbs is crazy. Really undervalued, so bargains to
be had.
I'd have one, but personally, not as my first choice.

I think the general problem lies with the fact that the majority of regular posters all have the V8. When asked what's the best, it's natural to recommend what you own.
While I don't doubt that the S6 has problems, I have never witnessed first hand of anyone needing engine work on a S6 - wether that's because I'm in my own sheltered world or not is a different matter.
So I'd say the forum needs you Ocean1, to present a more balanced debate for all the engined derivatives and stick up for your chariot. Keep up the good work and don't let the buggers grind you down.

Tuscan admittedly, but... 2 months off the road with a previous owner for a finger follower rebuild
3 weeks off the road getting uprated throttle bodies sorted
2 months off the road for a second rebuild for valve guides

Mungo has appeared as well!!...has some one left the Loony Asylum door open! Okay, gonna try and say why I am biased. I have no real problem with speed sixes. I am sure they're just as fast and probably just as reliable.
Its just that the engine in a car is very much part of what the car is. Its the bit I talk to when I drive. To drive the Cerb well and have the engine sound happy takes quite a lot of my concentration, and I get a feeling of achievment.
I rekon I could drive any V8 Cerb in this way, but if you put me in a speed six I would be starting from scratch again. This therefore makes them different cars, with the same bodywork on.
Every car I have. V8 Cobra, V8 Cerb, V8 BMW M5... can you see a pattern emerging here? I love V8 engines. They make a much better sound than ANY other type of engine. I couldn't put my hand on my heart and say if I was given the choice of either the Speed six or eight Cerb I would ever pick the six, great car though it may be. If someone gave me a speed six I would be talking to LSBoosted or some such about a transplant.
