Obviously I'm not in the target audience.
I prefer the Rapide. Much prefer!
Obviously a little less legroom in the back!
I will go back to watching the video now that ice got that off my chest!

Stretch Rapide with a Zagato re-skin.
Same basic interior, Engine, gearbox, running gear, under-pinnings and Chassis.
Can see it selling (proportionally) as well as the Cygnet. i.e. 4000units p.a. planned, 400 made in total. Lagonda, 200 units planned, probably 20 units to be sold.
Basic model should be GBP150k max - then they may shift a few more than 200. Someone is smoking something strong in Gaydon these days?

i would have a small side bet that most already sold.
i can see a fair number being middle eastern "state" cars of one sort or another in more like fleet use than private.
i think there will be very clients in reality but those, would have bought 10 or 20 each.
at about half a mill each if you buy 10 what is £5m to some countries out there.
super yachts run at about $2m a metre and there are several on order in the 150-200m range so if plenty can come up with that kind of money, these cars are chump change for the exclusivity of ownership.
they WILL sell because they ARE so expensive.

i think its lovely but not at that price. if it was 7 series or S class money then i think it would do really well. the rapide doesnt work for me. it has an identity crisis all of its own.
That's a bit like saying if the V8V was M3/4 money it would do well. Some people want exclusivity which that thing, like it or not, delivers.

Its 'just' a 4 seater
go FWD;)I think the Rapide certainly has less room to sheikh in the back as rear legroom is adequate rather than generous
However this really is an utter non issue unless you regularly go 300 miles with two 18 stone 6 foot 3 prop forwards! I dont - I go to see my Mum with my wife and kids or to jollies and meets en famile!I can define the Rapide's identity and purpose so easily as it was the only possible decision after driving similar 4 seaters like Panamera, Quatroporte - its a super sexy GT supercar hatchback for those with up to 2 kids still at home
Those that have driven many different Astons rate it very highly dynamically - putting it even above more overtly 'sporty' models after back to back Millbrook runs. I just dont want to drive the BMW Diesel estate on the weekends due to practicalities, and I don't have to. The only real option that was genuinely more practical was a std saloon car M5 - but we already have a conventional saloon car Beemer with more torque than that
Hope I'm not being too defensive, as I know its utter total love and I would be biased; car just works for me and us

Point taken Ken and i meant no offence. i think the rapide to me is like a swiss army knife, it does lots of great things but none of them the best.
that saying, i own a swiss army knife so quite what i am on about, i am often not sure.
i suppose i buy cars to do a job so look at it from that perspective but of course i end up with three cars not one, which is a bit daft.

you are paying a BIT more for exclusivity.
a 7 series and a S class arent nearly 600 grand. thats not paying a bit more for exclusivity. thats just plain bonkers
what i was saying was if aston were to bring out a nice saloon that was ok, a bit more than the German offerings, it would do well.
Semi-hidden in a side room at Geneva:

But in the short time that I was there, there were a lot a prospective customers looking over it. And judging by the colour swatches on the walls, I imagine that plenty of orders were also being take. I wasn't a fan when I saw the first photos but up close, it is much, much nicer.
This or a (common as muck) Roller or Maybach? This, please!

First of all, if they have limited production to 200 and reversed the initial decision to only sell in the ME, that surely tells it's own story in terms of how sales are doing
Secondly, if they priced it lower at say £250k (which is what it should by all rights be priced at) and in turn, remove the limited production status, then it wouldn't sell because it would be immediately compared to top of the range S class, rolls, Bentley, etc. As soon as it's compared to those cars, it becomes a dismal failure because it doesn't have all the tech features & thoroughly thought out design of those models
So instead, by making it huge with massive presence, incredibly rare and very expensive (it is indeed over £500k) it is just a status symbol with a lot of rear legroom
But if you strip away all of the above and look at it as an actual car, it's a (very) LWB rapide, with a different body, rapide front console and particularly poorly, two sports seats in the rear with rapide doors and a lot of legroom. That barely works at £150k ! Who wants sports seats in the rear of a car with all that legroom ?
Hence going back to ultra exclusive status symbol - people on here are being far too rational about this car. Think of it more as a high volume one off like the zagato centennial cars or the one off shooting brakes, that they happen to be making 200 of. Then remember that they only limit it to 200 if they have 201 orders - if they only get 50 orders, they only build 50 cars. Now it perhaps makes more sense.....

That was my point the other day
Aston make more doing this than "production" cars
