As is says on the tin . I have a low mileage mk3 450 Chim . It's my 4th but really want more power ! Mid range the car is great but low down isn't much quicker than the average 3ltr oil burner . Love the car but also love the Tuscan !

How would you spend the money ?

Both are different.

Will you miss the casual relaxed driving of the V8?

I started with this, (actually a 4.6) spent a few bob and have a very quick chim now.

I do love the Tuscan but like a lot of V8 owners still not sure of the engine.

Not light metallic blue by any chance?
Having had two Chims and a Tuscan the latter wins every time. It's an event every time I get in it.

Tuscan, better way to spend your money. I can imagine most of that 10 k you spend on the chim will be lost. Not sure if this will bother you or not. I went from a 450 to my Tuscan red rose, I could never go back. The difference in maintenance costs are a fair amount though imho

Peter - how did the extra 50/60hp over standard feel?

My 4.6 came with 275bhp and drove well but ran out of puff at the top end, (that was with a Typhoon cam).

Robs stage 4 heads, ported inlet and 45mm trumpets made it more snappy and revved easier. Gave about 325bhp.

By comparison, my 5.5 is a similar jump up again. smile

Do you have to keep posting this wink
My foot slipped, then I had to check just how much better I looked, that's my excuse anyway.

OP I went from a 450Chim to a mk2 Tuscan S.
They are both truly great to drive and as an event, they are just so different that I wouldn't even say that one is better than the other.
If you can afford it, then get both (even if only for a few months) as it can take a while to decide what suits you more.
What I can say is that my 2004 Tuscan has many more niggles than my 2001 Chim had, and even taking out the engine rebuild, the servicing and consumables and general bits and bobs mean my running costs are well over triple that of the Chim.

The T car chassis perform far better.

On the top gear test track even the cerbera was over 1:30 whilst tuscan and sagaris did 1:24.

You can do what you want to the v8 cars but at the end of the day theT cars are simply faster out the box

True, out the box.

Spend a little on a griff/chim and the gap closes.

Anyoldhow, they are both great cars, both different and cannot be truely compared.

Obviously a good car would be a T350 with a turboed RV8 wink

So what your saying is... Spend a little bit on a T car and it'll be even quicker.

I know you love a rover v8 can see you have a disco. I learned to drive in a 110 county

But it's time to let those 60's v8's go

Come on phazed this could be the year when you let them go

Go on, how about an ultima.

No, it's ok, I've come to my senses, I'll hone the chim until there's no more to come, (handling wise).

Like wise spend the same on a CerbEra and the gap is reversed, mates 4.3 Tuscan cannot stay any where near my Cerb on a track day and where the CerbEra sends you a telegram warning you that you are pushing the limits of adhesion his Tuscan just snaps you into a spin, both cars run Nitrons and Eibach spings.

I think you can have more fun in a Chim than a Tuscan, the chassis seems so twitchy in a Tuscan and the Chim has so much potential to improve without having to spend a fortune.

Luckily I'm fitting syvecs, traction control and magical slip ratios. Oh and I have a ffff head.

If you really want to go quick on track the ultima is the way to go. The stop gap is a noble.

I know your right but they are too focused.

I like the idea that my car is a works in progress, is always in the top 20% or so of cars on track days and you can stow the roof and cruise home in a super relaxed way that only a V8 can provide.

BTW, I could do with TC with 460ftlb of torque wink
