Jay is really interesting. Spoke to them about the work involved to do that, not sure if they would do it again is the impression that I got. And of course, that car is a factory favorite

Those are the biggest vents on the vented discs I have ever seen!
It would be interesting to know the whole story on this car and how it is doing. The engine sounds nice in the videos. The exhaust manifolds look like the Maccy's. What are they doing in video 1? If this motor weighs 500lbs how much do the chevy lumps weight?

I always thought small blocks were up to 350 cid / 5,7 litres . . . Where does a big block start? At 427?
The SBC is known, affectionaltey, as the mouse motor. The BBC (Big Block Chevy) is known as the rat. The form factor of the BBC is just that...larger. The bore centers are further appart making for a bigger block. And, it's taller for a longer possible stroke.
Another area of some confusion exists with the terms "short block" and "long block". This simply refers to the level of completion to which the block is built (when you buy it). Typically, a short block will be just the block with the crank, pistons, rings, connecting rods, bearings, plugs and (maybe) a cam shaft installed. A long block usually includes everything to make the engine run, except, perhaps, belt-driven accessories. But, missing can be any assortment of requisite goodies, like ignition, plugs and wires, fuel delivery system, etc.

4.625" bore x 5.000" = 672"
Looks all pretty impressive but I think a high revving lump matches the Ultima better. IMHO 6-8k thundering machinery - like the Beemer V12 - provides the agressive soundtrack. What other blocks other than Chevys' are used in Ultimas?

Been traveling a bit and missed a lot of PH time. The Ultimas in question have Flat 6's in them
With some looking, you can find them.
Would really, REALLY, like to use the 502 in something, let alone one of those bad boys!!

if you want something about 500 CID (or 600 in race form) then take a look at this.
