Hi all
I am a week into being a first time AM owner of a DB9.
There I was on a wet day off work a couple of weeks ago, minding my own business "just browsing" the AM approved cars when an Advert caught my eye. There I saw a 2005 "classic" Tungsten Silver DB9 for sale with 9200 miles. That can't be right, can it?
I couldn't shake it from my mind so finally sent an email to enquire -no Typo's. One elderly owner who had done 8,500 miles in the first 2 years and the remainder effectively to and fro the AM garage for annual servicing, having spent the rest of it's life pampered in a heated garage. Having passed away, the family returned it to the original dealer to sell.
After a conversation, it transpired the car wasn't in the garage yet. I paid a deposit to reserve pending inspection. Thursday 26 Feb went to see the car.
Love at first sight! I was amazed. An aficionado could obviously date it, but it appears as a new car with no signs of age. Immaculate Iron Ore upholstery with mahogonay fascia. Perfect bodywork. I was hooked.
Last Saturday it was delivered and I have not stopped smiling since. Driving such a lovely powerful car is a real joy and starting to comprehend all that is said of the experience. My day ride is a LR Discovery so the experience is real "Chalk and Cheese", but I am up to the challenge!
Having been dormant for the prolonged period, are you aware of any problems I should be alert to? I have the AM warranty to rectify any issues that become apparent, but as far as I can discern I have a nearly new car albeit 10 years old

The first thing to confirm is that your car has the updated dipstick. You are probably aware that AM replaced the dipstick with a shorter one to ensure that the oil level does not get too close to the critical level. The part number for the correct, updated dipstick is 4G4E-6750-AC, and it's on the dipstick so it's easy to check.
The V12 does use oil, so it's important to not be too lax in this area.
Congratulations. It's not a new car, it's a new kind of joy in your life.

Lovely looking car. The fact that it was run reasonably regularly in the first two years is good. I am no expert but low mileage for the next 8 years may mean you might have a corrosion issue in the exhaust to look out for. Short trip to the dealer, followed by a year standing still wont do it much good.
Tyres will be flat spotted too, but I guess you have got a new set of boots for it. 10 year old tyres not the best idea either way.
Aircon valves may have suffered too due to lack of use.
Otherwise the only advice is to drive it a lot, in all weathers too, so that if anything does crop up you still have the warranty, although that does not cover everything.
