Even though it is great to have a source for some parts, every time we see a shell like this, it hits home that another rare car has bit the dust. It almost a curse that these cars have bits that are useful for all sorts of projects.

The Wedge numbers are fast falling these days.

Looks quite early as well with the wiring on the inner wing...I said this before about a WRF...Wedge Rescue Fund...If enough of us were able to put a small amount of money in a pot and find somewhere secure to store the car on a short term basis..Then we could save the slightly rougher condition Wedges and get them to an MOT standard and then move them on as work in progress cars..It wouldn't be a matter of making loads of money more of helping to save these rare beasts..After all thats what people like us have been doing for years..If no-one cared about TVR then it would of totally died and been nothing but a blip in the history of British motoring..The worry is that parts prices out weigh the worth of restoration and joe pubic will utilise that to his advantage..

I'm pretty sure that the V5 goes with the chassis, not the shell, so that will literally not be worth the paper it's printed on.

It's still got it's original Wedge wiper arm. That in itself must be worth the asking price! laugh

He has mail..

I notice it has fuel fillers on both sides. Can someone date the body? Mine has one filler and a flap and its 1984.

Oh it's definitely an early-ish car: the front bumper is moulded for the Lucas rather than Renault indicators. But the DHC didn't appear until late '81 as I recall, so sometime between then and your car wink

Thanks Ian. Naturally I have two brand new Renault units ready to go... Wonder what other differences there are...?

My old silver wedge was 1980 and looks pretty identical to this blue one

In summer 1981 was when the single flue filler came in from memory as there was a new body mould

Mines is 1982, DHC, one filler on the O/S, if that helps. ( Could do with a new flap if anyone has one )

Thanks guys, interesting, must be '81/'82 then. Wish I knew what was different about the new mould. I have a bonnet but I'm concerned it might not fit this body...

If anybody happened to be in the neighbourhood (Lichfield) they might report back to the forum on the condition of the body... Doesn't fibreglass rot if left out for long enough?

I have a morning meeting up near Tamworth so happy to call in if I can see the shell mid afternoon. I've messaged the owner requesting a viewing. I'll have a look at the shell, take some photos and I can also measure the bonnet gap, side to side and front to back to see if it is suitable. Trust that this is okay. Cheers Keith

Hi there if the shell is suitable for the front end for you then i don't mind collecting it and doing the necessary cut / breaking it for parts as long as the costs are covered.
If it needed putting into a packing case for shipment to oz then again no problem if you let me know what the requirements are and you arrange for the shipper to collect it.
I rent a small space on a farm so can store it for a few weeks while people decide what they want.

I live approx 10 miles from where the shell is currently stored and have access to a flat bed trailer.

I've spoken with the seller and he has confirmed okay to call in during the afternoon. I'll check if the exhaust valence is also with it. Apart from the bonnet space anything else you'd like measuring up? Cheers. Keith

PS I think he thought your message from Oz was a scam!
