Hey everyone.

I have a focus 1.6 tdci mk2 but I am am wanting to make it faster. I do want an st but cant afford all the running costs of it at the moment.

I am planning on getting it remapped which will it up to 148bhp. Its a 108bhp. Does anyone know of any other upgrades for a diesel to make it more fun to drive and is possible alot quicker.

Thanks

They aren't exactly a performance car so you need to weigh up cash spent vs. what you can expect to gain.
That said, if you pick up a performance panel air filter before the map and have the car mapped with it on, it may help the figures. I doubt there's many specific exhausts out there for yours but you might be able to butcher a larger intercooler to fit which might provide a small increase too.

Do you think it is worth getting a remap and think there will be that much difference? I know it isn't a performance car but i just want something i can have a bit more fun with it without the extra cost of petrol and everything else that comes with an st

The power hike you're quoting will be worth it, definitely. It will be a quick car with nearly 150bhp plus the torque from it being a diesel and you MIGHT even see an increase in your mpg. Plus, the focus is one of the best handling cars out there out of the box. When my Police force first moved to diesel, we were driving the 90bhp version of the 1.6 tdci an they were still quick cars because they handled so well. In fact, it was driving ode that made me get my focus ST, and that is running in excess of 300bhp so that proves the chassis is more than capable. I honestly think the remap will transform your car and a panel filter will help too. Anything more than that is a lot of cash for not much gain, but as long as it's a reputable place doing the map, you'll be happy.

Them mapping figures were quoted from celtic tuning. Has anyone had dealings with them/would or wouldn't recommend them? I think i will give a remap a go then. I just want to have a bit of fun with the car as well as getting decent mpg. Im not massively bothered if i dont get any more mpg as i already can get around 68mpg if i drive it carefully. If i remember correctly the torque was around a 60 gain from the original
