Semi-hypothetical question since I went to my rented garage to work on my kart on the weekend and found it blocked by a parked car. If this had been 6am on a race day I would have been mightily peeved! I can't in good conscience go round all the flats looking for the owner at that time of day.

So what options do I have in this situation, if any? I've just ordered a No Parking sign for the door so hopefully it won't happen again.

Extra info in case it's relevant: It's in the middle of a row of garages in an area that doubles up as parking for a small block of flats. Each garage has a parking space in front and I don't use mine unless I'm there working.

Just leave a note on the windscreen, politely asking them not to park there again.

Alternatively, let down all 4 tyres

I did leave a note but it could be someone else next time.

I'm not sure how letting their tyres down will help get my kart out laugh

Push it out of the way (you will need help).

You might not need help, about three weeks ago the wife and I where awoken by the neighbour beeping his horn at 02:00, upon looking outside someone had blocked him in. So after about 30 seconds of beeping with no responses coming from the surrounding dwellings, he hopped out of his van pushed the offending vehicle in to the middle of the cul-de-sac and went on his way.

Get a sign saying 24 hours access needed etc please do not obstruct. The bollard is the best option however in a row they can be parked behind still etc.

Unfortunately if you pop into the parent and child bays debate you will see there are some people who object to landowners designating parking for specific vehicles/groups of people so you may find that someone from there has objected to you having that bay just for yourself and parked in it I kid you not!

If your vehicle is blocked in you can call the police I believe. (Wouldnt mention its a race car)

Is it possible to contract with a private towing company these days, with appropriate signage of course? I wouldn't do this unless it became a real issue but it's interesting to know.

Thankfully this is the first time it's happened over several years and I'm sure the new sign will do the job. I'll probably just leave my car there on the eve of a race meeting if anything.

No you cannot interfere with it in any way, the only people who can tow these days are the police and someone operating on DVLA order iirc

Folding bollards are fairly cheap these days but I'd just make it clear that it is not to be used for parking, spray the house number in the middle of the space?

Have the footman/butler stand outside your stable/garage for a few days before you need it.

you place signage and and put up bollard stating. Once the car is in pop the bollard will be put up and you have to phone this number for release.

I believe thats the only legal thing these days. There are wheel trollies you can get buy 4 jack the car up and move it on them.
