Hi

My hunt for a DBS is nearly over (I hope) I have now got it down to 2 different cars, a MY11 with 4,000 miles on the clock or a MY12 with 9,000 miles on the clock.
Is the Garmin and alley/silver seat switches worth the extra £18k more?
I personal am not worried about the switches as I think the black switches blend in with the standard black interior, so is the garmin worth the extra?

The price difference isn't down to the Garmin. Newer car vs half the miles. Not an expert on DBS model years but probably a number of other little changes.

Both Aston dealers?
Colour combo?

As has been said, if all else is the same then that's a big difference.

Isn't it the older car with half the miles!?

More like newer cars, twice the miles. I'd say they should be worth almost the same assuming same options. Garmin isn't great although it does have the speed camera alerts which I don't think the Volvo one does. You can get a app and a £10 subscription to do the same thing.

I've had both and the Garmin system is visually better but I have to say that the Volvo unit never got me lost, although I may have taken some interesting routes. The garmin unit is a lot more advanced and includes speed limit info, cameras which I did not have on the Volvo one.

As others have said your comparison is not a true one. If the extra £18k is not an issue I would go for the garmin.

If you like both colours and interiors then save your £18K, think what it will buy you - gallons of fuel, new boots when needed and extended warranty when the time comes, a quality detailing and some quality polish/wax with plenty to spare.
Make the deal get some miles under your belt you won't be disappointed.

Hi

Thanks for the reply's.

Both cars are Black (Storm v Carbon) the interiors are nearly the same. the MY11 car was reg in Oct 2010 and the MY 2012 was reg in Jan 2012
Ok there 15 - 16 mths in age but the older car has done half the milage of the newer car. Other than that there is no diff between them apart from the 18k for the sat nav and alley/silver seat switches.
So I am going to go for the old car, as I think it's in fact a nicer car. Also thinking about it I can buy the DBS and another TVR Cerbera and still have a bit left over for fuel!

I think I have the Garmin. After my latest nav debacle I am seriously thinking of removing it (and storing safely) and popping my 5" widescreen, SIM card live data equipped, Google search enabled, £200 Tom Tom in its place. Will find 12v there no bother I'm sure and need to change the ski slope anyway...

This means you can buy either wink

What was your latest debacle?

Related to your other issue or your chiming or were you just mis-directed? Yes you will have Garmin in yours.

I struggle with mine at junctions and have gone the wrong way.
I know you can enlarge the picture on the wheel if your in the right mode but it should auto enlarge.
It's not useless but could be improved and much better than the previous nav.
Doesn't beat the £100 Tom Tom.

Get yourself a set of personalised sill plaques from Tony Hall. I have mine already and I take delivery of the DBS next Turdsday.

Btw the sat nav is naff but it never got me lost. The Which magazine recommends Garmin highly but it also does reviews on colostomy bags. Just saying smile
