Is paying £60k for a 997 GTS slightly bonkers? 991 money?

Before I take the plunge into GTS ownership, I just want to do a bit of a reality check and get people’s views.

Is it a little bonkers paying around £60k for a non-(true)GT 997, when the 991 even in S trim can be bought for £65k now?

I expect the 997 GTS will hold its money as it has done for the last few years, but once the 991 S’ reach say £50k do we think the bottom will fall out of the 997 GTS market? I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking that the 991 is a much better car in many respects?

I know the decision is mine, but just interested on what the general consensus is!

if you need 4 seats then the GTS is a good all round car.

if you need only 2 seats the R is the better car at £20k less , and the GT4 is the more focused car at only £5k more.

And that's with out £65k 991 prices as 80% of buyers see new = better.

only YOU know if a GTS is worth £60k to you and your needs.

i think they'll always hold their money especially a manual - seems a bit of a bargain actually when based on its abilities.

How did you manage to get a Cayman R and a GT4 in to an answer about a 911 GTS?

you forgot to mention the Spyder and how bad a GT3 would be as well?

did not think the Spyder or a GT3 was what the OP was really looking for.

but a GTS is more like a R but the R is £20k cheaper , if he just wants a Audi type car the 991 is best bet.
Or is one buying a 911 on status alone ? happens a lot here it seems

If he wants a more focused car the options I put in were valid, the OP does not say what he wants, and looks like he needs help ;-p

I'm not buying the car for status, my previous car was a 997 GT3 however the girlfriend will have to be able to drive this one so looking for something that's more useable. Hence the GTS.

I was looking for a GTS in PDK only, but wondering if a manual would be a more sensible bet? Can anyone tell me if the clutch is lighter on a GTS than the GT3 as I know she'll hate it if it's just the same!

o yes 4 threads on the same thing, R vs 981, turbo vs C2s etc etc

we have all given our views on your last 4 posts !

if you loved the GT3 any other car will feel soft and pants, so I def say buy a R with PDK for the misses, I said that in the last post you started.

The clutch is lighter than the GT3. It's the same weight as the standard 997s

but if the OP is a ex GT3 owner, how can one move to something else if one loved it ?

GTS will feel limp after a GT3, as will a 981 or a turbo or a 991.

OP has a tough choice esp as his O/H is also paying for it.

A R PDK is a very good option for the pair and also will hold OK value and is a lot cheaper then he wanted to pay, a win win imo :-)

I agree, but then I do own a manual GTS ;-)

Many of the cars out there were specc'd by the dealers and put into stock. As a consequence most of the cars on the market are PDK with alcantara delete. The later I would say is an essential feature for the GTS.

CR is not on the same page, and I like CR's. GT4, based on all the reviews, certainly is.

but the OP does not want a GT3 he just sold it ! GTS is NO mini GT3, a R is more focused than the GTS. the other 4 are way off a GT3.

SO while the R is NOT on the same page as a GT3, if you want to put it that way, the OP is NOT buying another GT3 !

Interested by this comment. Are you saying that alcantara or leather is essential, as in should be in / on the car?
