Hi All

More help if anyone can shed some light on the subject - I'm beginning to lose my composure over it...

I've been putting my interior back together, which is as rubbish a job as all TVR jobs seem to be (see - bad humour time!).

However, the center console just seems to not fit. When tucked under the dash neatly, it is more than an inch too long at the parcel shelf. The dash seems to be in the right place and has no give in it.

I can't for the life of me understand how it doesn't fit (or anywhere near) as it came off easily enough something has obviously moved, but I can't see what or where.

All help appreciated...

There was one. And I wanted to use it. That's why I walked away...

The dash and console can change shape over time and the dash also drops downwards making it hard to get the console in properly.. Mines not perfect now and probably should have been fettled prior to the retrim.

Try to lift the dash a bit but mine never made it back to where it came from, maybe if I loosened the dash then fit console the tighten dash back in place?

Cheers

Cheers for the input. Thinking about it in a calmer state of mind, I think the dash must have moved somehow.

I'll see if I can see how tomorrow... Hopefully it's not all warped. I thought I was on the home straight at last...!

This is very probably down to the mess of wiring which sits behind where the radio goes. Take the centre console out again and try to tidy up the wiring under the dash and around the heater box. Then re-fit the centre console leaving the radio out. If the console fits try and put the radio in. If it won't go in don't force it, buy a new shorter unit without a CD player. See my radio post for a suggestion.

You replaced the carpets. New fluffy carpets are much thicker than old worn carpets, so the centre console needs a bit of "persuasion" to get it back in position. Have an extra Weetabix and get in there!

Thanks for all the suggestions chaps - always much appreciated.

I have just found a little black plastic wotsit of unknown purpose (possibly immobiliser) right up in the dash that had dropped and forced the bottom of the assembly out a little. Moved that, and it all fits(ish).

I had to take apart pretty much everything I did yesterday to get at it, but I can laugh about it now!

I have one of those, about the size of a fag packet. Does yours have a thin wire like and aerial coming out of it as well as the cable? I left mine alone but does anyone know what it is? I'd guessed at remote central locking but maybe that runs through the immobiliser?

I confess I didn't look at it very thoroughly - I just moved it... It sounds the same though. I don't have central locking on mine however.
