HELP, cant charge battery

Battey flat as a pan cake, opened the car and am trying to charge the battery but every time I connect the charger I get a bleep from the alarm siren and the fuse blow's on the battery charger.

Could do with some advise,

try jump leads? connect to an earth eg metal nr top of engine and then connect live, leave for 5 mins, rev the other car and then turn over cerb.

Sounds like there is something on, as the battery is demanding more power that the charger fuse will allow.
are the lights on, or the hrw,
one option is to charge the battrey off the car ( or with it disconnected) but then you might disturb some of the gizmo`s/controls.... but the battery is flat anyhow so doing this can`t make things worse.

SORTED, cheers chaps, it was as predicted the battery was so flat ( due to my son knocking one of the rear interior lights on) that battery was demanding more power that the charger fuse would allow, left the jump leads connected for 5/10 minutes and she started 1st time that when I noticed the rear light on.
