Its about the right physical size but the pipes are in opposite corners, the top is on the left and the bottom on the right. I was thinking of turning it 180 degrees so the the outlets face forwards and usung longer silicone pipes with U bends in them to reach around to the front of the rad., as you say, there's plenty of room.
I don't think making up some kind if mounting frame would be an issue, I was more worried about the volume of coolant the Mondeo rad holds. Maybe I will fill both rads up and see how they compare and then decide...

It may well be possible to fit as described and have it function properly but I think you would be short changeing your S.
you'd have all the hassle of sorting the hoses and mounting brackets etc for it to only look like what it it is, a Mondeo rad.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for modifications but there's nothing to gain here other than the cost of a recore, which might then devalue your car to a greater extent.
Just an opinion

That's a fair comment Alan, and something I hadn't considered.
Although the width and height of the Mondeo rad is almost identical, it is only 19mm thick, whereas the original is nearly 60mm thick - so it only has about one-third the capacity of the original so I think I will knock the idea on the head anyway!

If time is an issue you could have mine, get it recored and give me your leaky one after?
I've got an alloy one waiting to be fitted once my chassis work is complete so I'm in no rush.
That's really good of you Lawrie, but I'm not in a particular hurry to get it sorted. I was just wondering if it could be an opportunity of putting an alloy rad on the S of known good condition from the Mondeo. If I'd have done my homework properly beforehand I'd have realised it wouldn't have been suitable. Although my Mondeo is dead, I'm not stuck for transport, but thanks for the very kind offer.I've got an alloy one waiting to be fitted once my chassis work is complete so I'm in no rush.
You meet some cracking people into the S World!
