Spotted Rover V8 fuel injection inlet manifold with throttle

Found this on flea bay, was wondering if this would be any good on a Chimaera? I was planning on buying and rebuilding a second engine for my car, just so I can get a better understanding of the motor and maybe build a sportier engine for later down the line. Would this be a worth while purchase?

I'm sure somebody more experienced in these matters will be along soon! Will make interesting reading.

Would that would not suck in all hot air from the engine and manifolds and perhaps make the air travel slower? I thought the point of the ACT intake etc. was to keep the filter out front where the cooler air hits the front of the car?

Also, you would have to change to an after market ECU as 14CUX needs the AFM and the throttle pot.

Looks like something off one of the early rover engined Tuscan challenge cars . But I'm sure someone will know what it is and will be along shortly . Probably saying I'm wrong .

To use as-was in a Chim, would ideally require a hole cut into bonnet, and some sort of lower half of a scoop sandwiching between "plenum-base" and air filter to make an airtight seal against closed bonnet - thus isolating it from engine bay air. Top half of scoop fibreglassed into bonnet (if protecting it from rain etc was an issue)...

The description says that it only generated power at the very top of the rev band - presumably gas speed too slow lower down due to 48mm intake diameter..?

My thoughts immediately went to he Raceproved one in the vid mentioned by Ant above - awesome for track, but shame it wasn't a little narrower diameter for us road use mortals...

Still - awesome bit of kit for someone looking to build a NASP track monster
