such a shame that they have to use the analogy "snorts like a fezza".
one day they might say that about an aston.
i dont know the price of things nor the gaydon cars too well but to do that to a DB9 which is a pipe and slippers (i only quote here) big lumbering GT, would you not be better off buying a DBS as a bit more appropriate for the noise.
this is coming from someone that not only would do but has done similar to every car i have ever owned just so you know.
i am not sure the noise fits a DB9 but i would love to know why the owner changed to something different after. that sounded nice.

They probably used the analogy they did because that's how it sounded, nice way to sum it up in a handful of words rather than a paragraph don't you think? An Aston will never snort like a Fezza because no matter how good that sounds, its not an Aston. The sound is just as important design symbol as the styling, no? So really, do you ever actually think an Aston will snort like a Fezza, I doubt it. Which is why after living with that glorious sound for a while, the owner decided to revert back to the baritone burble. At the time it was not possible to buy a DBS Volante Manual in that green and still isn't so is one reason why Yeti modified. Next is that all up price of his car and enhancements was way less than a DBS, but dynamically the modified DB9 was way better than a standard DBS. Project Blofeld (Hi Dave) is another that has proven a BR modified DB9 out performs a DBS. BR can make the V12 modified exhaust note bass and burble or snort like a Fezza. My knowledge of talking with the guys over 4 years of doing this, is whilst everybody loves the sound of high pitched (like the video clip here) nobody wants it because it isn't an Aston burble (except Bins who is a chav)
. But that's the beauty of BR, each customer is an individual and they can ask and get whatever they want. Finally, following Yeti when hooning used to be quite an experience

I'll have you know Nicholas that I'm off to BR tomorrow (avec hangover) to have my sound adjusted. Mike mentioned an option, free of charge, at my last service. Looking forward to hearing the results
Hello mate! What's wrong with the sound you have? Or did you modify it after the manifold and cats were changed? JP
Hi Darren, hope all's well. Hey JP, nice to hear from you!!
Don't panic, no major changes...
I seem to remember that there was a PH guy a while back (Parna?)who said that although he liked the loudness of the BR manifolds and cats, with that sound came a little rawness which is muscle car nice, but after a while and certainly on long journeys can be a bit too much and I found myself agreeing with him. Silent mode I hear you say? For me that wasn't the answer because that is the opposite extreme - whisper quiet. So this is what I want for mine, loud mode just a tad quieter (the boys on a hoon will thank me for this!), which I would use all of the time, silent mode would just be for early morning starts or to sneak up on Toms when he's in the pub. So, mine was in for a service and I had a chat with the boys at BR knowing that they deliver the performance and sound tailored to customer requirement, which interestingly forms part of the original project and not an additional cost. So I'm going to take their intermediate X-pipe for free which at same time as maintaining the power, takes the rawness out of the exhaust note and shaves a few db off overall noise. I'll let you know how it goes.

Keep me posted Mark as to the end result. I love the sound of my car until the revs get beyond 5k and then it tends to sound a little loud. Would be interested to hear your outcome. I need to arrange a North/South meet up somewhere so that we can all catch up. Pick somewhere nice to get to from both sides like The Peak District. Nice drive out then lunch and drive back collecting pistonheaders on the way.Don't panic, no major changes...

Ok chaps, reporting back as advertised.
What a difference. I arrived at 10am to be greeted with a cup of tea and a very comprehensive brief as to the differences I should expect with the x pipe versus my original intermediate pipe. The fitment took about an hour and a half and I had the opportunity to look under the car and witness the entire process. Mike was really keen for me to take the car for a test drive and then report back as he wanted my honest feedback on the sound change. I was quite genuinely staggered at the difference, for what appeared to be a relatively minor mechanical change. The previous raspy, metallic, mechanical growl, which I originally adored, has been replaced by a much more refined, smooth and slightly higher pitched howl which reminds me very much of a racing prepped car. It has been very slightly reduced in volume, especially at low rpm, which was one element I wanted to change. Previously the car was very loud at low rpm, very shouty. Now the volume increases proportionally to RPM and the noise builds progressively. I am very, very happy.
What stands out yet again is the level of service provided by the boys at BR. Please don't take this as a cue to start the inevitable Indy wars, but I have to reiterate that the 2 hours spent working on the car, discussing with me the procedure and the test drive, cost me absolutely nothing. Not a penny. Mike was at pains to point out that this service is all part of the original exhaust upgrade and that the sound is part of the customers satisfaction, and is a very individual thing. Things can be done to alter the sound to suit the individual, and he and the team have done just that. It's fabulous.

Mike sent me an email after my post on here last night offering to fit the pipe to my car as and when I want it. I have to say in all my dealings with them they have been first class. Mark I need to hear your car now!!
Darren, I've just got my son to video a startup and couple of revs, I'll get the link on once it's sorted, no idea what the quality will be like. If I get time, I'll try to do a drive by video this weekend. Here's the static video, as ever it's not quite representative.
