Evening chaps, I'm soon purchasing a c63 (probably an 09 reg ) and I want an exhaust that rasps ! I mean hellfire like the one in this video. I've read the miltek posts and the ipe but a lot of reveiws are saying not much of a noticeable difference .... Well I want people to move away from the car when I start it ! Any help much appreciated

Also does anyone know where to purchase the black series rear wing or a replica wing ? I can't justify 3 grand on one so cheaper the better

Why is it so quiet at idle?

I'm not so siure to be honest ! The idle noise doesn't bother me too much but the raspy rev range is a must

When the Powerflow guy took off the exhaust bar the cat on my old CLK55 it had a similar mental noise. Replacing the standard exhaust with a straight-through but keeping the cat will probably give you the sound you want. smile

If you want a NASCAR then you'll need long-tube exhaust manifolds which delete all of your Cats. The reason why a lot of people fit IPE or similar valved exhausts is that the silencers are very robust and tuned to control straight-piped sound when the valve is closed but secondly, they can get an insane sound at the press of a button with the valve opened. You'll notice that an IPE system with the valves closed and no aftermarket manifolds is quieter, yet deeper than the AMG system.

The AMG exhaust is designed/tuned to make noise based around having four Cats and to meet noise regulations but, couple this with aftermarket manifolds which the rear silencers were never meant to cope with and its NASCAR 24/7.

Yep slap the long tube IPE headers on and you will get the NASCAR sound.

Cheers for that chaps ! I've been looking at these ipe pipes but I can only find the full systems ( minus headers) with the valve tronic system

There's a miltek option that's about £350 but I can't understand why its so cheap.there's another option that's comes with sports cats I think but that's closer to £2000

Up to you of course, but IMO the YouTube clips sounds horrendous, fart cans and not at all a nice sound. The stock C63 sound is great, very difficult to better without destroying the classy balance AMG achieved.

Yeah I completely agree, to loose the thunder roar for a rattle can noise if punishable by death

Each to their own, but for me looking at that clip, less is more....

part of the appeal after all.

One warning about removing all the cats - it will be undriveable!

I had the secondaries removed on my SLK55 and a great x pipe fitted by infinity- all good!

a few months later I had Kleemann exhaust headers fitted which necessitated the primary cats being removed. It was at this point the car became undriveable- loud but not in a good way. It was just a harsh metallic rasp with a real drone between 3-4k rpm.

I took it to infinity and had them put on some 100 cell sport cats and a small silencer at the rear at the cost of £500 but at least I could drive it

You tube clips don't do the IPE justice. I thought exactly the same before getting mine done and I was really concerned it would loose the AMG sound. However, if anything it sounds better........just ticking over or tootling round the town it has a deep burble.
I attended a VMax200 event and it was commented by several people that mine was the best sounding car there!!!

Horses for courses though, so others may think different

Yeah mine is the full system with the valvetronic and sport cats

I did the rear section first (cat back) which I think was roughly 1800 pounds.
Then when I went for the stage 2 Supercharged I needed the Long Tube Headers.....which I think we're about 1600-1800
