As well as KTM there's Husqvarna but of course none of them are British.

I'll move this to Bike Banter they might have more ideas of any British makers.

KTM make road bikes too, not just off road machines.

Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki all make off road machines too, as do BMW (See Long Way Round for proof!)

CCM are a British manufacturer that specialises in off road bikes, just been rescued by the son of the former owner.

As for companies that make race bikes in the UK.

Crescent Suziki run the British Superbike tea, I believe they are factory supported but the bikes are built by the team.

Honda's British and World Suerbike team is based in the UK, in Louth on the East coast.

Ten Kate Honda are I think British, but I prepare to be corrected on that one.

A lot of the teams in top line british bike racing prepare and develop their bikes themselves, along with help and support from the manufacturers.

Ten Kate are Dutch...

and Crescent's showroom at Verwood (a dealership and the race base if you like, they have a dealership in Bournemouth too) has to be seen to be believed.

I convinced me enough to sack the plans of a 998S / RSVR factory and get a GSXR thou.

Who owns Triumph these days? They were racing up until the end of last year in the Supersports class.
