Hi. Finally want to get my panels upto scratch.
Has anyone "restored" their panels or can recommend anybody?
Are the panels gf on the outer & cf on the inner panel?
& what is the black mastic used to join them ?
Which replacement seals (i have the seals direct catalogue). Mine are the earlier type with the spring clips.

I will be watching this tread with interest.
My T-tops have the plastic wrap-around seals around the edges and I would like to replace them but haven't seen them for sale anywhere.

If your panels have split apart and you need to stick the inner and outer back together tiger seal is what I used. Tried loads of epoxies and they failed soon after being stuck. Tiger seal is a sticky silicon, but try not to get it on your hands as its a bugger to get off.

As for the outer seal I'd like to know where you can buy these as I've not found anywhere that sells them. I think we would need to get a group together and split the cost of getting a forming tool made.

Would be very interested too. Although there are a lot of seals involved here so perhaps some pictures would help to explain what we're talking about. I've got a howling gale I'd be keen to deal with.

I BELIEVE that for those of us with carbon panels, both inner and outer are carbon. This is based on when I had mine resprayed and I got a message "do you want me to leave the carbon weave showing?" (and I can see the weave on the inside). Now what I'm not clear on is whether those with fibreglass panels (later cars I think) have a carbon effect on the inside?

If you're thinking about going for carbon effect on the panels - I think there are a number of options. You can painstakingly sand it back or there's a product called carbolift that MAY be safe. Whether the weave is then good enough to leave visable - I don't know. It would otherwise seem reasonable to not take the risk and go for the dipping or wrapping approach. All things I've thought through: my car's black and I reckon it would look pretty good. But I've not taken the leap.
