Extra MPGs

I have had my car almost 2 months now and done nearly 2k miles. I was hoping for a bit more than 19-21MPG which is the best and worst I had had until last weekend.

I recently bought an ecumate lite and plugged it in to find that one of the Lambdas was showing as faulty. I was looking at which type of sensor I needed when I noticed it was unplugged! Plugged it back in and wammo the last tank averaged almost 27MPG. It certainly feels a bit more sprightly too!

Don't you just love easy fixes? They don't come along too often but always leave a fuzzy feeling of satisfaction!

Interesting,

I've been getting 18-20 mpg in my 400 but having acquired Rovergauge I too noticed a dodgy lambda sensor trimming 100% fuel in. Have replaced the offending item now and will be interesting to see if my consumption goes up to 27mpg....every little helps

I do 200 miles to a tank (Well I zero it when I fill it up, drive 200 miles and then put another £50ish in it). If I could be bothered to figure out my mpg I'd be disappointed wouldn't I?

200 is fair, I fill at 120 generally.

Right, that's enough moaning, the suns out, I think I'll go for a cup of tea to a nice café in the sticks about 20 miles away, that's £1.80 for the tea and about £16.00 for the fuel.

Largest range I've had 279 miles Av 27.22 mpg and refilled with 45.6L to fill to cut off as I always do.

It was returning from Poole heavy,heavy rain and holding a steady 60 mph,I have left it longer before putting in 53.0 L so reckon that a 300 range is achievable under the right circumstances.

But this is on a standard 400 so for the power boys i think forget trying to reach that far.

On my fuelly chart I do have a higher reading of 297 miles and Av 27.38 but I don't think it calculated correctly as I was running low on the motorway so pulled over but wasn't Shell Vpower so just put £10 in to reach a Shell garage. I added the two totals together and reset the trip on the 2nd full fill up which was now reading 297 but I put the £10 in at 268.

After 50 fill ups to the cut off i'm running at 22.5. I only keep track because I read that someone got 30mph(No it wasn't Chimpongas) so this is my challenge 27.5 best to date

From the MY Cars app on my smartphone using brim to brim - Best = 27.27mpg - worst = 17.91mpg Ave = 22.06mpg - 4.0 with 50K miles on the clock

Max between fillips = 245 miles (at which I probably chickened out)

Unleaded or Super Unleaded?

I always use the latter but a lot of people rave about plain unleaded - more economy, less problems with lumpiness at low revs...
