Ok so there have been worse falls but its still a broken collar bone (apparently) but I have never seen a "fan" take a rider out so blatantly.

There was a big discussion on this on twitter last night about this between pro's, fans, teams and team managers.
We have all come to the conclusion that it was a deliberate act, and there is a lynch mob out for the guy make no mistakes. Some of the threats were seriously quite worrying from "fans".
For me I wish Loren a speedy recovery, but chances are she won't be racing in time for the Womens Tour, which is a shame as I was hoping to see her race then and she was looking forwards to it.
The race organizers are looking into it, along with the Dutch Police, Velocio Sram haven't yet made an official response to the incident, only put out what the damage was to Loren.
Between this, the incidents on the Mens tours in the past, and the Boels Dolmans crash the world champs last year, I can see the barriers being moved back, and spectators won't be as close to the action, which will be a shame.

Yes, in fact in these days of H&S its surprising you can finish a race with a bunch sprint of 200riders doing 40+mph with only movable 1" thick barriers between them and public.Not that that in any way excuses the behaviour, whoever it was certainly can't have not noticed the oncoming race and accidentally put his/her hand out- that would be like managing to miss a rocket launch if you where standing in the blast pit!

Agreed. If it was an accident, I'd expect his arm to be cannoned backwards with the force Loren would have hit him with. I agree that it was deliberate, but it must have been a spur of the moment thing, as what were the chances of a rider being close to the barrier exactly where the guy was standing. Even if the tw***** had planned to do this he could not have been targeting a certain person so he was out to get anyone, the thought process just goes beyond words. Do him for attempted murder
