Morning

Just wondering if anyone else are having these issues with EBAY and how this can be legal..

Buyer makes a purchase, week later they open a case stating none delivery ( none tracked item ) . We ask them 3-4 times if item turned-up ( no response ) so WE escalate the case as it's been hanging around weeks and within seconds EBAY refund the buyer without question. The great part is buyer left positive feedback stating item received and all good.

So...we speak to customer Service, point out the fact customer has left positive feedback AND we have an email off customer stating delivered yet EBAY still refund.

Response from CS, tough can't help you.

We now have around 10 of these cases over the past few months and considering taking it further, good read here ( with email address ) -

http://www.theguardian.com/money/2014/jul/11/ebay-...

Input from others would be appreciated, don't care about the funds just the whole principal here//

I've sold many things on ebay over the years and fallen victim to this a couple of times. The only way to protect yourself is to only offer tracked and recorded delivery at the buyers expense.

if the buyer raises a dispute, you have proof of postage and you are covered.

Without this, ebay will always go in favour of the buyer.

You shouldn't have escalated and just let it time out. By escalating a robot sees no tracking and automatically refunds.

Your best bet is emailing the buyer directly (not through eBay) - explain what happened and send an invoice through PayPal.

Thanks for above, yeah we've tried the time-out option but buyers escalate just before and EBAY refunds anyway.

This is probably the reason that I received an arsey message full of 'terms' today from a seller after ordering a heat alarm yesterday... Doesn't make for good customer service though!

Agreed, for peoples ref - https://www.myhermes.co.uk seems cheapest option.

Regards EBAY refunding people when they can clearly see the customer has left POS FB, i'll be taking further.

This issue works both ways.

I bought an item off Ebay (£180).

Seller ships it with MyHerpies.

They sign to say its been delivered and left in my porch.

The issue is I don't have a porch and neither do any of my neighbours.

I raise a case, the seller escalates with the tracking information.

Ebay rule in his favour as the item shows as being signed for.

I appeal, ebay state unless I can get MyHerpies to agree its not been delivered they won't overturn the decision

I speak with MyHerpies who won't share any information as I have no contract with them.

I go back to Ebay who tell me to go back to the seller.

The seller ignores me.

So I am £180 out of pocket with no goods no ability to prove it wasn't delivered with a seller who has walked away.

I can't even work out a legit way to get his address should I wish to try and recover my money via court.

Would it be in the Paypal transaction details?

NB Proof of postage is no good, you need POD. Apparently the seller is responsible for getting the parcel delivered to the buyer - if the courier screws up it's still the seller's fault.

The information from my Herpies is that it is delivered and signed for.

I can only see his name on paypal but I have a town and some internet digging and I will turn up his full address but it's not really the point. I do have some sympathy for him though as he clearly thinks I'm on the take and in the end one of us is going to loose money.

I sold a £40 item on eBay a month ago, at 29 days I get a refund request from the buyer because it has parts missing

Fair enough if it does but why 29 days, it was a tool, could it be that he's finsished the job he needed it for , they've frozen the money in my paypal account so I really have no choice , best bit is they've let me know they'll be taking £2.80 extra for the return postage as well as me refunding the outgoing postage.

So it's now free tool hire via ebay , all you have to do is complain it was incomplete

Have you tried this

To request your seller's contact information:
Click Advanced search at the top of most pages.
In the Members section on the left side of the page, click Find contact information.
Enter the seller's user ID and item number.
Click Search.

Stuff like this just highlights why I won't sell anything on ebay again.

I'll sell stuff via forums, gumtree, Facebook etc for cash on collection only. Other stuff I'd struggle to sell I'll either donate to a local charity shop or simply throw away. Just too many nobbers on eBay, coupled with some of the bonkers policies they have means it is not worth the hassle. Such a shame as I really enjoyed ebay in the early days.

I sell the odd item and try and do collection only on items just to save any of this problem.

ebay is good for selling stuff provided you don't actually sell through ebay/paypal.

If you sell outside of ebay and end the auction early, you do sometimes get charged a final value fee based on last bid but you expected that charge anyway by selling on there.
Cash on collection is the only way to cover yourself from dodgy buyers.

I have had slightly different issue but the same result in Ebay 100% siding with the customer.

Ours was a faulty part, the part in question was a O-Ring used to seal a joint, customer said it was faulty and had a hole in it! no joke there.

Customer had already phone up and said he had brought another one and did not want his money back but wanted something twice the value sending out as compensation, with a threat that if we did not he would leave Neg feedback.

We refused and the customer starts a faulty return. I contacted Ebay to tell them the part can not be faulty, they said they can not tell either way but would refund the customer and we had to pay ebay to send it back to us.

So i said let me get this right, one of us is lying you automatically are always going to believe the buyer and not YOUR customer who has crossed your palm with silver!

YES was the reply.

The point i am getting at is Ebay don't investigate who is right or wrong, they just believe the buyer and the seller who had had to pay the fees etc loses out automatically .

To me it is open season for the crooks.

yes The system assumes that all sellers are crooks and all buyers are honest. Easy to police but wrong.

Yesterday I 'sold' a watch on eBay. It went via auction for twice what I expected.
My suspicions are aroused by the bid and the fact that bidder has zero feedback.
He/she has yet to pay and is abroad so the transaction goes by eBay's Global Shipping Programme.
Quick questions:
(1) if the buyer is legit, how soon should I expect to be paid given GSP involvement?
(2) if I don't get paid, how long do you suggest I wait before making a second chance offer?
