Yes, alot of quite horrid beards too. I'm all for styling and such, if it floats your boat then fair play, but there is no need to mince around town looking like a gay pirates bh.

I now sport a beard. More due to laziness and the missus liking the rugged homeless man look. Suits me. But I'm sure people look at me weirdly now. No I'm not an ex BBC presenter wink

I noticed a lot of 'hipster' beards on men when I worked in Manchester City centre. I used to associate men with beards beards doing stuff; chopping trees, military men, Peter Sutcliffe.

Now they seem to be on men bringing you a ciabatta, served on a slate or non-plate type thing.

I also have a beard but grew it 20 years ago and decided to keep it.

Working in London, it seems everyone has one and mostly the big lumberjack variety. Looks best with neatly oiled hair, too short jeans with turn ups and shoes with no socks. It's a ridiculous fashion that cannot end soon enough.

Off topic, this really bugs me.
Loads of places serve food on wooden chop board type things, absolutely hate it and they give me a weird look when I ask for it on a plate.

Back on topic, I've had a beard/goatee on off for the last few years.

I agree. There's just far too many of these dheads walking around London now, thinking they are unique and special just because they have got a beard like everybody else. They look like something from a '70s porn set.

There's bern many threads about beards and "Is this a new trend?"
No. It's bern happening for about three years.

If you're struggling to think of a thread topic try "Gays - are there more about nowadays?"

i've shaved 5 times in the last 4 years, 4 for movember and once a couple of weeks ago as i had the chance to have a cut throat shave and fancied the novelty of it.

usually just keep it trimmed short but have been challenged by a few colleagues to see who can grow the biggest/best/most horrendous beard. mine looks piss poor so far, the others are going to be zz top and uncle albert i'm sure.

My wife has never seen my chin! Been together 15yrs

If you grow one, keep it the same when you get married, in case wife-to-be surprises you with personalised bride and groom cake toppers.

If you have decided to surprise her with a wedding goatee, she may not be happy!!!

Usually grow some sort of an effort for the winter months, let the hair a little longer too. However like a sheep once March begins I always go and get sheared smile

I have been a goatee grower for years, often accompanied by lazy stubble on the neck and cheeks.

Some of these "modern" beard growers are just annoying. Look at Tim Howard (Everton Goalie) next time you get a chance, he looks like a grade 1 ringpiece.

I mentioned this to wifey last week, every other advert on TV seems to have some bloke with a huge growth on the chin.

There are certainly more BIG ones kicking around these days.

Generally yes, it seems to be dominated by 20 something hipsters who treat having a beard as a way of life. Either that or people who go the gym and want to look like Dan Bilzerian.

I usually grow one while the girlfriend is at uni but she prefers me without so I get rid when I go visit her. When she finishes uni and I see her more often she'll have to get used to it though (I hate shaving).

I had a meeting with a salesman the other week that looked like Sir Walter Raleigh, I expected him to lay his cape down for the girl showing him into the meeting room and announce he doth bring us tobacco and potatoes.

All I thought the entire time was jesus you look like a tit.

That's what I look like with my beard, although my rollneck is cream not blue. I've also given up drinking and the pipe is laid up to rest
