Hi is it fairly straight forward to do this.

Cheapo digital camera SD card> PC> Disc> DVD player

I'm sure I tried this many yrs ago without much success.

with Windows 7 (Vista as well, I think) you should be able to burn JPEGs to CD/DVD from Windows Explorer.

On my TV I can plug in an SD card and view direct (camera SD card > TV)

Depends on your TV. If it's sufficiently smart it will be able to look in folders on your PC over WiFi.

TV is not that smart, Panasonic flat screen probably 7-8 yrs old. I'll try the DVD thing. Will any old RW DVD's do?

Have you checked if your TV has an SD card slot? My similar aged Panasonic does.

Get a Chromecast. I've got that picking up pictures from a private photo album in Facebook using Dayframe started from my Nexus 7.

Many TV's have an SD card slot. My TV can read files off a networked PC as another option. Or some TV's/ phone/ tablet combo's can mirror the screen.

Not my telly, it's for an elderly relative wink I'll double check when I go over next.
Would be ideal if it had.
