Hi all

It's been at least 7 pages of the forum since we talked about insurance. Any help appreciated.

At the moment I have a 2014 Rapide S. Does less than 8000 miles PA. A Mini Countryman 2012. Does less than 6000 miles PA and a RRS that does less than 10k PA. The RRS is worth about £40k. The country man about £18k.

Anyway I have all three cars on one policy with Zurich. The Aston is new for old replacement and the renewal has just come in as £2900. Vs £2700 last year. All the cars are kept on the drive. I have full no claims and it's a good area.

Can anyone recommend a good insurance company? I guess getting the Aston repaired by Aston is important should an accident happen.

Thanks

Josh.

Heavy Josh - my Rapide is £850 or so with 'no' no claims discount as its a new 3d car. Superb policy - all bells and whistles - Locktons.

May be worth trying Aviva direct for a multicar policy? I'm confused if Admiral multicar really do make you use back street garages for repairs - many views on it, but that is what I was plainly told on the phone personally last July.

I was with lock tons but saved a fortune moving to Footman James who are with Chubb. I have a collector policy and their quote was excellent. Try them

As always I guess it depends where you live to some degree, but that does sound high. I have a fleet policy with Chaucer, the broker is Pace Ward.com Been with them over 5 years now. Have a Range Rover sport, Vantage, Volvo S60 and 2 motor bikes. 2 drivers. 30K business miles and 10k pleasure miles. fleet value approx £75K. This year the premium was £1250 ish fully comp with breakdown cover and all the usual options (full NCB on the cars and 3 yrs on bikes)

That does seem a bit (very) steep to me.

I've currently got a Mini Cooper S and a 997 S on an Admiral MC policy......£315 per year.

I previously had the Mini and a V8VR on the policy for the same money. That's with full no claims, missus as a named driver and both parked on the driveway. I'm just under 40 and have a clean licence.

Another vote for Admiral multicar here. Costs buttons, despite being fairly young, and when I did have a bump the customer service was great and it went to an AM main dealer.

Hi Josh. I got some great advice when mine was due for renewal as I had always been with Locktons - mainly for piece of mind if the worse did happen. I have renewed with Aviva. They were about 40% cheaper, mainly because I didn't want extras that came as standard with Locktons like track day cover, european breakdown and cover. The beauty with Aviva is that if you did have a prang an extra £200 pound excess will allow you to nominate the repair garage. So thats should meet your needs. Good luck

Try Aviva, you can choose which garage but paying a slightly higher excess (but only if you claim) - £90 IIRC. I was with Bell, claimed with them - used an AM Approved bodyshop (who were shockingly st, but thats another story), then moved to their sister company - Admiral on a multi car. When renewing this year they would not confirm I could use the garage of my choice, hence switching to Aviva - which ewas cheaper anyway.

Direct line were cheap at Xmas.

When I looked at multicar I found that buying individually from different companies was cheapest. 3 cars, all powerful, lots of miles inc business use, newish Aston, BMW 640 gran coupe etc and less than £1k in total to insure.

When a pizza delivery driver reversed into my the nose of my V8VR (I'd had it a week) Admiral at first tried to get me to take it to some mickey mouse garage. When I explained that it wasn't quite as simple to respray as a corsa (it was Morning Frost) they were quite good and said the only issue with me taking it to my nominated garage (Chiltern Aston at the time) was that I would be liable for the excess until the claim was settled.

That was it, Chiltern dealt with Admiral in record time, the car was sorted and Pizza Hut admitted liability before the work was done so I didn't need to pay the excess up front anyway.

As soon as I find that SP10 it'll go back on the Admiral policy.

Other than Admirals legal arm trying to get me to claim for injury (my car was stationary and the pizza guy was doing 5mph) everything was smooth. They just couldn't understand it when I refused to claim for injury.....they honestly thought I was mad. They said I was guaranteed £1500 and couldn't grasp the fact that I was in no way injured (just pissed off). That sort of practice should be illegal.

Comparing all driver details on a comparable basis is impossible - the likes of Admiral are a lot cheaper for good reason and if you enjoy the risk of an issue ( however small ) post an actual claim then definitely worth going for - I am happy to insure my kids cars with them.
Josh, I have 5 cars with Zurich ( though a broker ) with a higher combined value and pro rata I would say your existing price is probably not that silly. In the past have used Chubb and Aviva and service from all 3 is first class including whenever car substitutions made , agreed values etc etc.
Unfortunately until you are unlucky enough to have a claim thats when value becomes apparent.

I moved my V12V to Locktons last year - to get track cover.

Renewal just came up & they gave me a great price for my cars [I'm paying less for mine than you're paying for your 3]

I got a pretty crap quote for admiral multi car, but they then said they could mirror my no claims on to the Aston instead and the quote almost halved.
