Hotel with safe parking in Edinburgh?
Discussion
Hey Frank, this is a perennial problem in Edinburgh. Even the top city centre hotels don't have on-site parking.
Two places I would recommend are the Bonham, which is in a converted New Town terrace and has parking at the back of the hotel - make sure you ask them to keep you a space in advance. The other place is Prestonfield House, which is a couple miles outside the city centre but a beautiful location with lots of outside parking. You might also look at a service apartment at Quartermile. Although it is a public car park it is there mainly for the residents and is tightly guarded.
I grew up in Edinburgh and am back at least once a month on business - hope this helps.

My son lives across from the Residence Inn is the Quartermile development. There is a huge underground car park under the development.
Its 10-15 mins walk to the castle. 20 mins to the Princes Street. Some nice restaurants nearby as well.

Very nice hotel, (Well it was when we stayed there back 2010). Can't remember if they have secure parking, but the hotel is slightly off the main drag so quiet and we had no problem parking outside the front of the hotel.
They do business special rates as well

Malmaison Edinburgh has a surface level car park; not experienced any problems there but you could check with the hotel if they have CCTV on it.
Never had any problem when I stayed there a while back, but not the closest to the city centre..More central, the Caledonian has it's own surface level car park, and I've used it in preference to NCP's, etc. even when I've not being staying there.
Another one I know that is definitely secure is the Novotel near the Art College - underground car park, but maybe a little on the tight side. When I did stay there, I'd been in the Caledonian the night before, and left the car there.

Dunstane House Hotel very central and is owned by www.derekcmowat.co.uk who runs his car business from there.
Secure parking at the rear of the hotel

In 2011 I took a 997 and used the valet parking service when staying at The Balmoral. I've no idea where they parked it but it was all fine, very nice hotel too.
Down the road in the NCP below the St James shopping centre I believe.I second Prestonfield House. A bit out of the way but huge parking.
