Ok, just imagine its 1980 please.

Could anyone know why (its never been used before honest guv) the as new MD-3 motor drive I've just received off eBay doesn't work?
It runs fine off the camera, ie the frame counter goes down and cuts off at zero, but on the camera it makes a constant droning noise, and only stops when you press the shutter release on the motordrive!!!!!. Lift your finger off the motordrive shutter ie as if you were not trying to take a picture, and it starts droning again, but doesn't wind the film or move the counter.

I've checked everything is located and lined up correctly. I cant believe its the gears (as its supposed to never have been used) and it does seems more an electrical issue. Any ideas?

Is there a roll of film in the camera?

If not, I think it may not be detecting the tension at end of the roll of film.

No film in it. Thanks I'll try that and respond back. Strange thing is though I tried my mates f2 with his md2 and it worked fine without a film in it. Would an md3 be any different?
