We (my other half and I) are moving to Bicester at the end of January and I was wondering if there are any regular PH meets in this area?

Or, anybody got recommendations on pub/restaurants in Bicester (or locally)?

(Does Bicester still come under Thames Valley?)

I'm about 10 miles north of Bicester, dont know of any PH meets locally but would be interested in kicking one off if. Lots of good roads and country stop offs.

There was a meet last year which started off at the little chef ? by the BP (A34 down by Tesco's).

Feel free to organise more - it's only 50 miles for me to get there and with relatives in Bicester I could visit them whilst I'm there.

Dunno about pubs, but there is the massive outlet village. With a pub next to it.

There was the topcats open day last year, which had a fair number of PHers attend, not sure if there isn't going to be one this year.

And don't forget the Leighton Buzzard meet, which isn't too far from you.

What are you implying?

I think the pub is a Hungry Horse as well

Personally I prefer pubs with a bit of character and decent beer - suppose we will just have to chance our arm and try them out

We have done a couple of meets in Bucks. We had a very good turn out last April. Nice day!

Some of us met up at the Crooked Billet, then went to the service station at Bicester to meet everyone else. An hours drive later we were back in the pub for some lunch.

It was a good turn out!

With a bit luck i'll get around to organising another one once the weather starts to improve.

We also had a Japchat meet in Oxford the other week, at the Trout in Godstow. People were very relaxed about what cars come along though (except Skoda's) we had a porsche and a TVR among the japcars, it was quite a turn out so I wouldnt be surprised if that was repeated.
Also, I know its not close but the Northants run is coming up soon- end Feb, which will be starting on J15a M1 which is about 20/25 miles from Bicester (nice route down the A421 and up through Stowe then onto Silverstone and on the A43 to M1)

Dont eat in that Acorn pub, I used to work there and it was fine then, but I've heard its gone downhill, used to be Morlands, which was a tad more upmarket than Hunrgy Hippo or whatever its called now.

OK that was already covered then, apologies for not reading thread

Thanks mxdi, I saw the Trout meet but it was just before we moved so was up to our eyes in boxes!

I think February is out for trying to come to any meets - between working weekends and parents coming up I don't think we have any other time spare.

I'll wait to see what March has to offer...
