Breitling - why is winding such a pain?
Discussion
I have an Avenger that I only really use to work but I am finding that I am leaving it at home more and more now as it is such a pain to wind up and set the correct time.
It usually stops about 36 hours after winding it so not only do I have the pain of winding it but I have to go to all the fuss of setting the bloody date and time as well. It is the winding that is so annoying though, I manage to do the winding part ok but trying to push it in and then turn to make the seal usually takes a good 2 or 3 goes even after a years practice.
I know, I know, I should have just got a quartz watch!

Unwind crown
Wind until it starts ticking
Forward past midnight to confirm
Set date
Set time
turn crown anti-clockwise to find start of thread
turn crown clockwise to screw in
Literally takes 2 minutes.
Or just buy a standalone winder.
That differs from the official instructions. it says I have to push the crown in and turn clockwise to screw in and then tighten till I feel resistance - I find this very fiddly.Wind until it starts ticking

Literally takes 2 minutes.
Or just buy a standalone winder.
