In these Classic heady days of daily rising prices.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PORSCHE-911-993-C2-Coupe...

She's no 2.7S, SC, 3.2 or 964, so prices aren't going up by the hour ....... But she is the finest air-cooled model ever built. biglaugh

What do you reckon the final figure will be?

A lot more now you've linked to it. hehe

I was going to buy it and turn it into a rat-look uncared-for example, that I could drive and enjoy without worrying about valuation.

It certainly looks quite nice, but not spectacular.

The sales presentation, pictures and detail could have been much better prepared - and I would certainly have done the seats - driver's looks quite tatty. Colour, originality and history, if full and correct with invoices, are main attractions. But, Variorams with sports seats seem to be a bit more desirable

On eBay - probably £30k(ish) - with a budget for remedial work to bring it up to quality.

Certainly better than this one http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

However, the best spec cars, with lower mileage and properly presented, seem to be £40k+(ish). And the very best ones, of 'collectible' quality, can justify £50k++.

You are correct only in that you hesitated, and then wrong to generalise. Anyone who owns a 993 is interested in cars; you have to have mechanical sympathy (or you wouldn't be able to drive it backwards, or drive at low speeds and still enjoy it), and according to the non-owners on here they all rust, mist-up, give you backache with an impossible driving position and so on, yet this lady owned it for 9 years, probably without bhing about it.

She must have 'got' the 993, which so many gentlemen on here do not. Hats off to her hehe

From my telepathic reading of the advertisement, the current owner is a part-time trader who obtained it from the lady very recently for probably 20k.

Doesn't alter the fact that it's been looked after by Camtune for thirteen years.

Even with a poor advert, I'd say from the comfort of my Chesterfield that that's a good 'un.

Why not? You of all people keep stating aircooled 964s 3.2s and the like are worth 40 plus k. I'm sure I remember you salavating over a targa that was rich money.

Why not this great service history, reasonable mileage, long ownership air cooled, couple manual 911?

I think everything as gone silly but 38k is no sillier than any other 80/90s aircooled this side of an RS.

Just to make it clear, I have no connection to this car or seller.

Well on the plus side it's a manual, C2 coupe.

Downside in terms of why it isn't top money. It has 98k miles (so not really low mileage), it's a 1995 so non-varioram engine and no sports seats. The history and current condition still needs to be checked plus there's no comeback on issues.

The colour combination is OK (black leather would have been better).

It should probably be £28-30k, but will no doubt creep higher.

This is why I get so utterly lost/confused on Porsche forums vs price and aircooled.

Just what would the expected value of it if it was 3.2 or 964? I've not seen either at this spec that wasn't stellar money of late, yet I can't remember anyone pointing out humdrum colour or seat spec.

I understand you. The trouble is some people think if one 993 (or 964, 3.2) sells for £40k or £50k then all cars are worth this.

eBay doesn't say premium and cared for, it says potential bargain but buyer beware. Which is why I would be cautious on price.

If it was presented properly with transparent history and condition on PH it may be more appealing.

I have been watching this car and that is exactly my take on it.

It looks pretty good to me. I am going for the add being pulled due to Malton buying it offline...

Well she's rocketed to £25100. 2 bids so far! To be fair she looks like an honest car with 100k miles and no doubt will need £5-£10k spending on over the next few years to get her back into mint condition.

Why would you buy this car for £38k and spend £10k on it when you could have just bought this 39,000 mile minter for £47k from 911 V? The mint green car is a good as it gets and 1 of only 4 UK cars in a pretty unique and gorgeous colour. Whatever you do to this higher mileage car she will never be as good as the 911 V low miles car. Not rocket science Wozy!

I'd say off eBay £25100 is the right money.

Right colour and spec for me. I've been looking out for one of these for months. This one does look tired and I expect I could easily spend £10K on it.

The market is realistically around £40K for a minter, so I wouldn't bid more than £28K for this. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes for over £30K though...
