In just over a month, Google are going to be using "mobile-friendliness" as a ranking signal for their mobile search results.

So if your website isn't mobile friendly yet, you've got until 21st April to improve things!

Rare to see Google giving warning and even providing detail about an upcoming algorithm change! I guess that most websites where SEO is important should be responsive by now though.

Got wind of this a while ago, proving to be a game changer based on the amount of work I had to do on a small site like ours.

Guess what? I got my notification this morning telling me I am being dropped in ranking because of mobile errors.

My customers are unlikely to be looking for my site on a mobile and I sized my viewport for an iPad as they tend to have them.

Do I need to panic and change everything?

if your customers don't look for you on a mobile you are fine - it is only a drop in rankings when the search takes place on a mobile - which makes sense

Yes, you may well do. Your site isn't mobile friendly/responsive. Do you know how many people find it via a mobile device? I bet its a lot more than you think it is.

Yup, can't use the forum at all on my phone, sick of zooming in and out to read/navigate.

Change your forum skin in your preferences, works wonders wink

Select "Mobile (Beta)" from here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/prefs.asp?h=0&a...

Keeps the normal skin from a large screen and jumps to the mobile skin on a smaller screen smile

I have two websites. One is for holiday homes in France. No one has searched with an iPhone, but a few have used an iPad.

My other site is a serviced apartment in England. There have been pages viewed on an iPhone, but my guess is that would be someone redirected from a hotel search directory. They are probably looking for one night cheap accommodation, which we don't do.

So I am hoping that @akirk's opinion is right.

Can someone offer a view if it is easy to fix? One of the issues is button size. I know from comments I have had from customers in France that they appreciate that I use a big font and buttons - my customers might be described as "affluent retired", rather than "tech savvy"

Doesn't work, ruins large screen format, and you can't select the main headings for the forum groups (General Gassing, The Pie and Piston etc)
