Differential bushes replacement

Hi all it seems the top bush on my Diff is shot so I'm looking at replacing all 3 of them I'm told the Diff will
Have to com out as its a right pig of a job any one tackled this job in your garage .

Yes and I wouldn't ever ever do it again.

Agreed it is difficult, but you can make it a lot easier if you cut yourself an access panel in the parcel shelf so that you can do some work from above. You can even support the diff from above as you lower it out and lift it back. The hole can be quite big (use the chassis tubes as a guide) and there are several ways of fitting the new cover back in afterwards. The biggest PITA is cutting the old bush so as to remove it. The pro's use an air saw, but you and I just have to spend many hours with a small hacksaw. Good luck.

Probably the quickest way is to take the body off so you can get to it proper

Did mine with the body on.

Once the diff is out use a long large bolt and a socket (just about the same size as the outer tube) to pull the guts out of the bush.

It takes time as you need wind up the bolt to pull the core and then let the rubber creep and then wind it another couple of turns until the metal core comes out.

Then use a hacksaw blade to cut out the outer bush but be very careful as you'll tend to cut deeper at the edges and risk cutting into the chassis tube.
